DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has successfully sold the media rights for the upcoming T20 International series against Pakistan, providing a much-needed relief to the board. This comes after initial reports indicated difficulties in reaching the set floor price during the open bidding process.

According to Bangladeshi media reports, the BCB managed to secure a deal for the worldwide media rights for the three-match series against Pakistan. While the rights were initially set for open bidding, no company managed to meet the pre-determined floor price of 40 million Taka. Reports suggested that some offers were significantly lower, not even reaching half of the target.

Following the unsatisfactory initial bids, BCB officials reportedly engaged in direct negotiations with select companies. A board official confirmed that the BCB has now received the targeted amount successfully monetizing the series’ broadcast.

A board official stated that the initial bids received were “absurd,” leading to direct engagement with companies to secure the desired value. The official confirmed, “Now the board has received the amount according to the target.”

The BCB had previously faced challenges in selling the media rights for its Test series against New Zealand. This recent success in securing rights for the Pakistan series marks a positive development for the board’s financial outlook. The upcoming matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh are scheduled for July 20, 22, and 24.
