Dar reaches US to attend high-level UNSC events

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Monday arrived here on an official visit from July 21 to 28, 2025.

On his arrival, Deputy Prime Minister Dar was received by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh.

During the visit, the deputy prime minister will lead high-level signature events under Pakistan’s Presidency of the UN Security Council, hold bilateral and multilateral meetings in New York and Washington, D.C.

He is also scheduled to represent Pakistan at the International Conference on the Two-State Solution, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France

According to the Foreign Office, Mr Dar will chair an open debate on “Promoting international peace and security through multilateralism and peaceful settlement of disputes” on Tuesday.

The session aims to foster dialogue on enhancing the role of diplomacy, mediation, and international cooperation to address ongoing global conflicts. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has been invited to participate.

On July 23, Mr Dar will preside over the Council’s quarterly open debate on the “Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question”. Pakistan has consistently reiterated its support for the two-state solution and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people.
