KARACHI: The probe into model-actor Humaira Asghar’s death has intensified, with police successfully recovering crucial data from her electronic devices. This breakthrough offers new leads for investigators to uncover the circumstances surrounding her demise. Asghar was found deceased on July 8th in her Defence Phase VI apartment, where she had lived alone for seven years.

Her body was discovered when a court-appointed bailiff arrived to enforce an eviction order over unpaid rent. In a significant development, detectives gained access to her three mobile phones, a tablet, and a laptop. Passwords were found in a personal diary, allowing data retrieval.

So far, two people have given statements, with two more summoned for questioning. Authorities noted the actress regularly visited a gym and a beautician. Investigators plan to interview her gym trainer and close contacts to piece together her final days.

DIG South Asad Raza of the Sindh Police stated on July 10th that food and drink expiry dates in the flat were 2024, and phone messages dated back to October 2024. Based on the “advanced stage of decomposition” noted by the police surgeon, her body was estimated to be six months old. Her bank accounts, transactions, and a small contact list have also been reviewed.

No immediate evidence of foul play was found in Asghar’s apartment. The exact cause of death awaits post-mortem and chemical examination reports, after which a formal case will be registered. This tragedy follows veteran actress Ayesha Khan’s death in Karachi weeks prior, highlighting a concerning trend in the local entertainment industry.
