Electricity prices likely to drop in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: There is a strong possibility that electricity prices will decrease by 65 paisas per unit for consumers of government-owned power distribution companies.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has completed the hearing on the request of the Central Power Purchasing Agency and the authority will also issue a final decision to review the statistics.

Sources said that electricity is likely to be 65 paise per unit for a month, with this approval that consumers will get more than Rs 8 billion relief. Industrialists say that if the rates continue to grow, the industry will be destroyed.
