LAHORE:At least 33 people lost their lives and 176 others were injured in various rain-related incidents across Punjab over the past 24 hours, as heavy downpours accompanied by windstorms battered several regions of the province.

According to a Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the most severely affected city was Lahore, which reported 13 fatalities. Other casualties were reported from Faisalabad 8 deaths, Pakpattan 4, Sheikhupura and Okara 3 each, and one death each in Nankana Sahib and Sahiwal.

In Lahore, multiple roof collapses in areas such as Muridwal village, Mission Colony, and Mominpura resulted in the deaths of several individuals, including children and elderly residents.

Similar incidents were also reported from various neighborhoods in Faisalabad, where collapsing roofs and boundary walls led to several injuries and fatalities.

Sheikhupura saw fatalities in Usman Nagar and nearby villages, while Pakpattan reported deaths and injuries from collapsed roofs and walls in Chak Gobindpur and other localities. Okara, Nankana Sahib, and Sahiwal districts also witnessed deaths and injuries linked to the severe weather.

Rescue teams continued operations amid ongoing unstable conditions, urging the public to take precautionary measures.
