Karachi:  The tragic death of Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar has taken a new turn as her sister-in-law, Huma Sohail, wife of Humaira’s elder brother Sohail Asghar, has come forward with significant revelations, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the actress’s mysterious demise. Humaira was found dead in her Karachi apartment on July 8, her body in an unrecognizable state.

Humaira Asghar’s decomposed body was discovered in a Defence Phase 6 apartment, where she had been living alone for seven years since renting the flat in 2018. It was revealed that she hadn’t paid rent since 2024, leading the landlord to seek legal action. When a court bailiff arrived to open the apartment, they had to break down the door, only to find Humaira’s badly decomposed remains, initially estimated to be a month old, but later post-mortem and investigation suggested she had been deceased for approximately nine months.

Huma Sohail’s account contradicts previous statements made by Humaira’s brother, Naveed Asghar, who claimed continuous contact with his sister. Huma revealed that Humaira visited their home in August last year and returned to Karachi in September. Upon her return, Humaira called Huma, requesting a SIM card in her or her brother’s name, and then called her mother, expressing distress, needing money, and stating her current number would be disconnected.

Huma further disclosed a strained relationship between Humaira and her brother Naveed, often quarreling over money and property rights, as Naveed disapproved of Humaira’s showbiz career. Huma also shared that Humaira often invited her to live with her in Karachi, sending money for her nephews and nieces, and regularly sending 15 to 20 thousand rupees to her mother. In a startling revelation, Huma claimed that Naveed Asghar expelled her from their home five months ago, and she has had no contact with her husband since.
