SHIKARPUR: A powerful explosion on a railway track near Humayun village caused three carriages of the Rawalpindi-bound Jaffar Express to derail, police confirmed on Monday.

The train, which was en route to Quetta from Rawalpindi, encountered the blast on the track, resulting in the derailment.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while emergency teams reached the site to assess the damage and ensure passenger safety.

Police said the casualties were not reported in the incident and police personnel are on the spot. The bomb disposal squad has also been summoned, the nature of the blast is being determined.

Railway officials said operations are underway to remove the affected bogies and restore track.

Earlier, an explosion on the railway track near the vegetable market in Jacobabad caused five coaches of the Jaffar Express to derail.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saddam Khaskheli said no casualties were reported.

Railway Police confirmed that the blast occurred while the Jaffar Express was passing over the track. Following the incident, train operations were suspended on the affected route.

The Bomb Disposal Squad is currently investigating the nature of the explosion, and authorities have launched a full investigation into the suspected sabotage.
