KARACHI: K-Electric has successfully integrated 23 captive power units onto the national grid, with plans to connect an additional 45.

According to Chief Executive Officer Monis Alvi. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to transition industries running on captive power plants to the national electricity network.

In a statement regarding the shift of industries operating on captive power to the national grid, K-Electric CEO Monis Abdullah Alvi confirmed the company’s progress. He highlighted that K-Electric is actively facilitating this transition, providing all possible support to connect captive power sources to the main grid.

Alvi emphasized the significant benefits this move will bring to the national grid. He explained that as electricity consumption within the country increases, capacity charges will decrease, ultimately leading to a reduction in tariffs for consumers. This strategic shift aims to optimize the national power infrastructure and reduce financial burdens.

K-Electric Chief Executive Monis Alvi stated, “K-Electric has so far transferred 23 captive power units to the grid.” He further added, “K-Electric is working on connecting an additional 45 captive power plants to the grid. K-Electric is providing every possible facility to transfer captive power to the grid.” Alvi also noted, “The transfer of captive power to the grid will greatly benefit the national grid. The more electricity consumption increases in the country, the lower the capacity charges will be, and tariffs will decrease.”
