LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification enforcing Section 144 across the province, placing a temporary ban on various water-related activities to prevent accidents during the ongoing monsoon season.

Under the restrictions, swimming in dams, rivers, canals, ponds, and lakes has been strictly prohibited. Additionally, bathing in rainwater accumulated in streets, roads, open areas, or public places has also been banned.

Unauthorized boating in dams, rivers, canals, lakes, ponds, and distributaries is likewise forbidden under the new orders.

All restrictions under Section 144 will remain in effect until August 30. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate and exercise caution to avoid any untoward incidents.

The ban was imposed to protect precious human lives in the context of current weather conditions. During the heavy rains in the monsoon, rainwater accumulated in low -lying areas, streets and open spaces.
