KARACHI: The Karachi’s streets turned deadly in the first six months of 2025, as 49 citizens were killed in robbery-related incidents, official figures reveal.

In January, five people were shot dead during robbery attempts following resistance. February witnessed the highest surge in violence at that point, with 10 individuals falling victim to street criminals’ bullets.

The death toll remained steady in March, as another 10 citizens were gunned down during robbery incidents. April saw a continuation of the deadly trend, with 10 more people killed by armed assailants.

May proved to be the bloodiest month, recording 12 fatalities in street crime-related shootings. In June, 2 citizens were killed during armed robberies after resisting.

Despite public outrage and repeated assurances of action, street crimes continue to plague Karachi, with many questioning the effectiveness of policing in the metropolis.
