Punjab: Assistant Commissioner Pattoki, Furqan Ahmad, suffered a fatal heart attack while on duty visiting flood-affected areas along the Ravi River at Head Balloki.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab confirmed his sudden demise and stated that his body has been transferred to a nearby hospital.

Punjab is currently grappling with severe flooding as the three major rivers Chenab, Ravi, and Jhelum have breached their banks due to recent heavy rains. The floods have led to the loss of 33 lives so far, while over two million people are reported to have been affected across various districts.

PDMA officials expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the dedicated officer who was actively engaged in relief operations. “Mr. Furqan Ahmad was tirelessly working on the ground to assess and assist flood victims when he collapsed. His passing is a significant loss for the community and the administration” a PDMA spokesperson said.

Relief efforts continue with emergency teams mobilized to provide assistance, rescue stranded residents, and distribute essential supplies.
