LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court, while announcing verdicts in two cases related to the May 9 riots, acquitted former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while awarding 10-year prison sentences to Ejaz Chaudhry, Dr Yasmin Rashid, and other co-accused.

The verdict was pronounced by the ATC judge inside Kot Lakhpat Jail. Those sentenced to 10 years in prison include Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Dr Yasmin Rashid, and Ejaz Chaudhry.

Aisha Bhatta was sentenced to 10 years in prison for burning vehicles near Jinnah House while 12 accused were acquitted in the case of Shadman police station.

The court acquitted Sohail Khan, Owais, Rafiuddin, Fareed Khan, Salman Ahmed, Abdul Qadir, Faizan, Tayyab, Sultan, Shahid Baig, Majid Ali, and Bakht Rewan.

The Anti -Terrorism Court has sentenced Aliya Hamza Malik and Sanam Javed to five years in prison.

Earlier, Anti -Terrorism Court also sentenced Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz and others in May 9 cases.
