Islamabad: Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider, stated that the intensified monsoon activity across the country is a direct result of extreme heat.

During a media briefing in Islamabad, he said that restoration efforts are underway in areas where connecting roads have been damaged. Essential relief supplies, including food, will be delivered to the affected districts, and the NDMA is in constant coordination with provincial governments.

He added that, the search for missing persons continues, with ongoing rehabilitation efforts in Buner, Bajaur, and Battagram. As per the Prime Minister’s directive, surveys are being conducted in flood-affected areas to assess damages.

Lieutenant General Inam Haider also noted that flash floods and accidents have occurred in Gilgit-Baltistan and other tourist destinations. Restoration of damaged communication infrastructure will be prioritized.

“For the next two weeks, our focus will be on Northern Punjab, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan,” he emphasized.
