Islamabad: With Pakistan’s Independence Day fast approaching, the Islamabad administration has imposed a strict ban on the sale and use of vuvuzelas—locally known as baajas, across the federal capital, citing concerns over public disturbance.

The move, announced by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, aims to maintain peace and order during the national celebrations on August 14. While Independence Day is often marked by patriotic zeal, the excessive use of loud horns has drawn repeated complaints from residents in recent years.

“All assistant commissioners and magistrates have been directed to conduct daily operations to seize baajas being sold at roadside stalls,” the Deputy Commissioner said in a statement. “Any violation of this directive will lead to strict legal action.”

Authorities have also been instructed to closely monitor vendors and enforce the ban across the city. Officials responsible for areas where baajas are found on sale will be held accountable, the statement added.
