KARACHI: In a heartbreaking incident at Karachi’s coastal area of Do Darya, a man allegedly threw his two children into the sea before taking his own life by diving into the deep waters.

Eyewitnesses reported that the children appeared to be between the ages of 5 and 6. Rescue teams, including police and divers, promptly arrived at the scene and launched a search operation.

Despite their efforts, no trace of the victims has been found so far. The motive behind the tragic act remains unclear, and investigations are underway.

Edhi officials say the operation has been stopped due to darkness which resumed on Friday morning.

Eyewitnesses said the man seemed to be under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. The people on the spot tried to save them but failed.

According to rescue officials, specialized maritime rescue teams have reinitiated efforts at daybreak. The ongoing operation involves two speedboats and eight professional divers.

Volunteers from Edhi Foundation, Rescue 1122, and Chhipa are present at the scene, along with personnel from DHA and the Clifton Cantonment Board, supporting the search efforts.

Rescue authorities confirmed that the operation was suspended last night due to darkness and poor visibility. The bodies have yet to be recovered, and search efforts remain underway.
