Maryam Nawaz pays tribute, urges renewal of national commitment

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has issued a message of gratitude and a call for a renewed national commitment on the occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.
In her heartfelt statement, she thanked Allah Almighty for the countless blessings bestowed upon the nation, including the precious gift of an independent homeland.
The Chief Minister expressed immense pride in Pakistan’s achievements, particularly its status as the first nuclear power in the Islamic world.
She reflected on the day as a time for national reflection, stating, “Pakistan is our dignity, our identity; without Pakistan, we are nothing.” She also paid a moving tribute to the visionary leaders Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, as well as the millions of martyrs whose sacrifices made the country’s creation possible.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s message also included a direct appeal for self-accountability. “On Independence Day, we must, as Pakistanis, hold ourselves accountable,” she said. “Pakistan has given us honor and freedom, but what have we given to our country in return?” She expressed her delight that the nation and its youth are “awake” and vigilant, standing as a testament to the country’s resilience.
Concluding her message, she affirmed that August 14 is not merely a celebration but a day to renew one’s pledge of loyalty to the homeland. With a sense of optimism, she highlighted Pakistan’s current trajectory toward economic prosperity and vowed to work tirelessly to make the nation “greater than great.”
