Hyderabad: For the first time in Pakistan a child birth has digitally registered. The milestone event took place at a government hospital in Hyderabad, Sindh.

According to the Chief Secretary of Sindh’s spokesperson, the initiative is part of a broader digital registration project currently underway across the province. So far, 36 government hospitals and 13 private facilities are participating.

The project is a joint effort between the Sindh Health Department, NADRA, and the Local Government. In a significant step to promote accessibility, all birth registration fees in Sindh have been officially waived.
