Police foil terror attack in Bannu, Three militants killed

Bannu: In a late-night incident, Taliban terrorists launched a deadly assault on the Fatah Khel Lairah Bridge police checkpost in Bannu.

According to security officials, the gunfight began around 2:30am and continued for several hours. In a courageous response, police forces managed to kill three terrorists during the exchange of fire.

Tragically, Constable Rukh Niaz embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, while three other police personnel sustained injuries. Following the attack, District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Salim Abbas Kalachi, launched an extensive search operation in the surrounding areas to apprehend any remaining militants involved.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Condemns the Terror Attack

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack on the Fatah Khel police checkpost, calling it an act of terrorism orchestrated by India-backed militants.

Minister Naqvi praised the bravery of the martyred officer, offering heartfelt condolences to his family and praying for the swift recovery of the injured officers. “We salute the ultimate sacrifice of Shaheed Police Constable Ruh Niaz, who laid down his life in the line of duty,” Naqvi stated.

He further lauded the police for their swift and brave action,  stating, “The police foiled the attack in the darkness of night with exceptional courage, killing two India-sponsored terrorists and sending them to hell.”

Naqvi said that the heroic actions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s brave police officers would never be forgotten and paid tribute to their unwavering commitment to protecting the nation.
