Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visits Tianjin University

Beijing: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Tianjin University during his official visit to China. At the university, he delivered an address to the faculty and students and also met with Pakistani students currently studying there.

The Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing about the university. He began his speech with a recitation from the Holy Quran and expressed that being present at Tianjin University was a matter of great pride for him.

Recalling his previous visit in 2017, he said that Tianjin University is one of the finest institutions of knowledge and wisdom. He praised the university for producing outstanding scientists and thinkers who have played a significant role in China’s development.

He shared that over 200 Pakistani students are currently enrolled at Tianjin University and expressed hope that they would benefit from the modern education being imparted there. He emphasized that these students are ambassadors of Pakistan and urged them to contribute to the country’s progress after completing their education.

Highlighting the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China, the Prime Minister said that the bond is based on mutual trust, respect, and sincere affection. He added that this friendship has withstood every test of time.

He remarked that Pakistan and China have always supported each other in difficult times, and their ties are as ancient as the historic Silk Road. Culturally and historically, the two nations are closely connected, he added.

The Prime Minister also noted that Pakistan was the first Muslim country to recognize the People’s Republic of China. He mentioned that the first international flight to Beijing departed from Karachi 60 years ago.
