Sony increases PlayStation 5 price- Check latest rates
Sony announced a significant increase in the price for PlayStation 5 in the United States of America on Wednesday.
The new PlayStation 5 price, which takes effect on Thursday, August 21, will rise by $50 in the US.
Sony announced the increase in a PlayStation blog post, explaining, “Like many companies worldwide, we’re facing a tough economic climate. Therefore, we’ve made the difficult choice to raise the suggested retail price of PS5 consoles in the U.S. beginning August 21.”
“The recommended retail prices for PlayStation 5 accessories remain unchanged, and we have no other price changes to announce for additional markets,” it added.
Currently, the standard PlayStation 5 is priced at $499.99, the digital edition at $449.99, and the PS5 Pro at $699.99.
The new pricing structure for the console is as follows:
PS5 – $549.99
PS5 Digital Edition – $499.99
PlayStation 5 Pro – $749.99
The price increase for the popular gaming console follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement of broad tariffs on imports from China and Japan.
Earlier in April, Sony raised console prices in multiple European countries, and in May, Xbox also increased the prices of its consoles and accessories across the US, Europe, and Australia.
