DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Law enforcement agencies foiled a terrorism bid in Dera Ghazi Khan after recovering an improvised explosive device (IED), Punjab Police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the police spokesperson, terrorists had planted the device near the Jade Wali graveyard with security forces as the intended target.

Police said that teams from the local police, Special Investigation Unit (SIU), and Elite Force conducted a search operation, during which the explosive material was recovered. The Bomb Disposal Squad safely defused the device, preventing a potential tragedy.

In this regard, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ghazi Khan added that a search operation was underway in the tribal areas of the police and forces.

Earlier, Three personnel of the Federal Constabulary (FC) were martyred and 17 others injured in a terrorist attack on an FC fort in the Doaba area of Thal tehsil, officials confirmed.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair, the assault took place in Tora Warai, where militants targeted the FC installation.

Police officials said security forces responded promptly to the attack, and the injured were shifted to nearby medical facilities.
