KARACHI: Senior Pakistani actress Ghazala Javed strongly responded to controversial remarks made by the mother of late actress Humaira Asghar, during a recent interview.

In the interview, Ghazala was asked about various industry-related topics, including comments made by Humaira’s mother. Responding to a specific claim, she said, “Humaira’s mother once remarked that people in Karachi aren’t good – I don’t understand what kind of statement that is.”

Ghazala condemned the generalization, stating that such comments unfairly portray an entire city and reflect poorly on the speaker. Her remarks have sparked debate online, with many defending Karachi and its people.

“I just want to say this to Humaira’s mother: Leave the people of Karachi alone and tell us what kind of mother are you?” Ghazala Javed stated. She highlighted that two Eid festivals had passed since Humaira’s death without her mother being aware of it.

Speaking from her own experience as a mother, Ghazala added, “If my married daughter even gets a fever, I can’t sleep because a mother knows her child’s pain.” She went on to praise Humaira, saying, “Humaira was a very good girl. If my daughter was like Humaira, I would be proud of her.”

Ghazala Javed also defended Humaira’s character, mentioning that the late actress lived alone for seven years but never engaged in any misconduct.

Ghazala lamented that such a talented person passed away too soon and expressed her sorrow for the parents. She concluded by saying, “In my view, the most unfortunate children in the world are those whose mothers are not with them.”

Humaira Asghar’s body was discovered on July 8 in a flat in Ittehad Commercial after a court bailiff, acting on a complaint from the landlord over unpaid rent, broke down the door.

The initial post-mortem report indicated that the body was in the final stages of decomposition, with experts estimating that the actress had passed away approximately 8 to 10 months earlier.
