Lahore: Today marks the 70th birth anniversary of renowned classical and ghazal singer Asad Amanat Ali Khan. his voice and contributions continue to live on in Pakistan’s musical heritage.

He began performing at the young age of 10, and rose to fame with his rendition of his father’s famous ghazal, Insha Ji Utho Ab Kooch Karo.” However, his breakthrough came with the soulful “Umraan Langhiyaan Pabhaan Bhaar,” which became one of the most cherished songs of his career.

“Asad Amanat’s voice wasn’t just trained it was gifted. He gave every lyric life,” said one classical music expert during a tribute broadcast. Many admirers believe his emotional range and vocal clarity set him apart from his contemporaries.

Among his other celebrated songs are “Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi,” “Aankhein Ghazal Hain Aapki,” and Ghar Wapis Jab Aaoge Tum,” which continue to resonate with listeners across generations.

Asad Amanat Ali Khan passed away in 2007 in London. That same year, he was posthumously awarded the Tamgha-e-Husn-e-Karkardagi (Pride of Performance) by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of his outstanding services to music.

On his 70th birthday, fans, fellow artists, and cultural institutions continue to pay tribute to his lasting impact on the classical music landscape of Pakistan.
