97 dead as flood-related incidents devastate Punjab

LAHORE: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has released a report detailing the losses caused by recent floods across the province.

According to the Relief Commissioner, 97 people lost their lives in various flood-related incidents. The floods in the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers have affected over 4,500 villages.

The report stated that the Chenab River inundated 2,334 villages, while 672 villages were affected by flooding in the Sutlej River, and 1,482 villages were impacted by the Ravi River.

According to the report of the Relief Commissioner, a total of 4498,000 people were affected due to the flood situation, 2451,000 people trapped in the flood were shifted to safer places.

The report further said that 396 relief camps were set up in the flood -hit districts, more than 1.9 million animals were also transferred to safer places.
