COAS vows for speedy infrastructure rebuilding in flooded areas, ISPR

Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Asim Munir conducted a visit to areas affected by recent flooding and reviewed ongoing relief and rescue operations ,Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the ISPR, the Field Marshal carried out an aerial survey of the Kasur sector, closely observing activities aimed at managing the flood situation.

He also visited flood relief camps established in Jalalpur Pirwala and Multan, where he assessed the facilities being provided to the affected population. During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was given a comprehensive briefing on the current situation in the flood-hit areas, the ongoing relief efforts, and the challenges being faced.

Punjab Chief Secretary and senior officials of the civil administration were also present during the visit. Field Marshal Munir emphasized the importance of effective support from the military and strong inter-agency coordination to assist the affected communities.

The ISPR further reported that the Field Marshal was also briefed on the situation in several villages of the katcha areas of Pano Aqil, which were impacted by the floodwaters. He expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of the ongoing rescue and relief operations.

Field Marshal Munir stressed the need for timely and effective measures to protect citizens from the devastating impacts of flooding. He highlighted that sustainable solutions lie in improved governance, infrastructure development, and community participation.

He further stated that the state cannot afford the loss of valuable lives and property every year, urging all institutions to adopt a comprehensive and collaborative strategy moving forward.

Field Marshal also met with the army personnel engaged in relief operations, Rescue 1122 staff, and police officers, and appreciated their high morale, preparedness, and spirit of serving the nation under extremely challenging conditions.
