Gilgit: A helicopter belonging to the Gilgit-Baltistan government crashed near Chilas, government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq confirmed.

The incident was confirmed by the GB government spokesperson, saying two pilot and three technical staff members were in the helicopter when it met the accident.

Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan expressed sorrow over the incident.

Spokesman GB government said Chief Minister Gilgit -Baltistan has directed the concerned authorities to arrive on the spot.

Meanwhile, a team of experts from the Russian manufacturer of the Mi-17 helicopter is expected to arrive in Pakistan to assist in the ongoing investigation into the recent crash of a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government helicopter.

The incident occurred on August 15 during a relief operation in Mohmand district, where a Mi-17 helicopter belonging to the provincial government crashed, resulting in the martyrdom of five personnel, including two pilots.

According to official sources, the Russian experts will collaborate with Pakistani investigators to determine the technical causes of the crash.

The team is expected to inspect the black box, as well as various parts of the wrecked aircraft, including both engines and the gearbox.
