A high flood situation has been declared at Guddu Barrage as the water level in the Indus River has surged beyond 600,000 cusecs. The rising floodwaters have submerged villages in the riverine areas, causing severe disruptions.

Roads have been washed away, isolating more than half of the affected settlements. Residents in the low-lying katcha (riverine) areas between Guddu and Sukkur barrages are now dependent on boats for transportation.

According to official data, the water inflow at Guddu Barrage has been recorded at 612,269 cusecs, with an outflow of 582,942 cusecs.

At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow stands at 488,820 cusecs, while the outflow is 438,390 cusecs. Meanwhile, at Kotri Barrage, the inflow has reached 274,129 cusecs, with an outflow of 261,399 cusecs.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah is expected to visit the affected areas, including the Sukkur and Guddu barrages, today to assess the flood situation firsthand.
