Indian Supreme Court refuses to hear plea seeking cancellation of India vs Pakistan clash

The groud war is scheduled to be held in Dubai on September 14.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has refused to entertain a petition seeking the cancellation of the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match scheduled in the Asia Cup 2025.
During the hearing, the bench comprising Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi questioned the urgency of the plea, remarking, “It’s just a match, let it remain a match.” The court observed that the match is set for Sunday, September 14, in Dubai, and no immediate action could alter the schedule. Consequently, the bench declined to hear the matter further.
The group stage encounter between the two cricketing rivals is part of the Asia Cup 2025 fixtures in Dubai. If both teams advance to the final, they may face each other up to three times during the tournament.
The decision to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup has been met with criticism from various quarters ever since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) agreed to the fixture. The move has sparked debate amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Despite the protests, the Supreme Court’s refusal to intervene clears the way for the match to proceed as planned, underscoring the judiciary’s stance to keep sports and politics separate. Fans across the subcontinent now eagerly await what promises to be another thrilling chapter in the storied cricket rivalry between the two nations.
