Karachi records heavy rainfall; Surjani Town tops with 129.6mm

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday released rainfall statistics recorded in Karachi between 11 a.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, showing significant downpours across the city.

According to the data, Surjani Town received the highest rainfall at 129.6 millimeters, followed by North Karachi with 72.2 millimeters and Korangi with 70.5 millimeters.

In other areas, Defence Phase 7 recorded 70 millimeters, Gulshan-e-Hadeed 69 millimeters, PAF Faisal Base 55 millimeters, Nazimabad 54 millimeters, Keamari 52 millimeters, and Saadi Town 51.2 millimeters.

Similarly, Gulshan-e-Memar received 47.9 millimeters, Orangi Town 47.2 millimeters, Airport 46.7 millimeters, M-9 Motorway 45 millimeters, University Road 44.4 millimeters, and PAF Masroor Base 41 millimeters.

The lowest rainfall was recorded at Jinnah Terminal, where 29.8 millimeters of rain fell.
