LODHRAN: Floodwaters breached two protective embankments in Punjab’s Lodhran district, inundating residential areas and prompting drone-assisted rescue operations to save stranded residents.

In Bahawalpur, rural areas have also been severely affected, with more than 100 villages across four tehsils submerged under floodwaters. Relief operations are underway as authorities strive to reach isolated communities.

According to official reports, the recent floods across Punjab have impacted over 4,500 villages, leaving widespread destruction in their wake.

At least 97 people have lost their lives, while thousands remain displaced and in urgent need of assistance.

The Relief Commissioner’s report said that a total of 2,334 villages were affected due to floods in the Chenab River, while floods in the Sutlej River affected 672 villages while floods in the River Ravi affected 1,482 subjects.

According to the report of the Relief Commissioner, a total of 4498,000 people were affected due to the flood situation, 2451,000 people trapped in the flood were shifted to safer places.
