PM Shehbaz outlines Pakistan’s stance at UNGA, hails military success and calls for climate action

New York: In address with United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented Pakistan’s position on key national and global issues, reaffirming the country’s commitment to diplomacy, sustainable development, and regional stability.
Speaking in (UNGA) in New York, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted improving bilateral ties, stating, “Bilateral relations are improving day by day, and we are committed to taking them further.”
Addressing on the recent tensions with India, Prime Minister Sharif declared a recent military engagement as a major triumph for Pakistan.
“This was a monumental victory for truth. We have crushed India’s arrogance,” he said, commending the Pakistan Armed Forces for their strategic brilliance.
He specifically praised the Pakistan Air Force, saying, “The falcons of our Air Force demonstrated exceptional training and skill. This victory was the result of the brilliant strategy employed by our armed forces. The entire nation stands behind them with prayers and pride.”
On the economic front, the Prime Minister stressed the need to move beyond reliance on foreign loans.
“More loans are not the solution,” he said. “Pakistan is prioritizing alternative energy and green initiatives, especially tree plantation, for environmental protection.”
He underscored Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, recalling the devastating 2022 floods that caused more than $30 billion in losses.
“Pakistan is ready to play its part in addressing the global climate crisis, but the world must also fulfill its responsibilities,” he urged, calling on the international community to honor their climate finance commitments.
