LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Moeen Riaz Qureshi as the new Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly.

The nomination comes following the disqualification of former Opposition Leader Ahmad Khan Bachhar.

In this regard, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said that Ahmed Khan Bachhar is fighting his case and he has the support of the entire PTI.

It is clear that since the conviction and disqualification of Malik Ahmed Khan Bachhar in the May 9 case, the post of opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly has been vacant.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ahmad Khan Bachhar had been removed from his position as Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly.

The Punjab Assembly Secretariat has issued a notification officially de-notifying Bachhar from the post.

The development comes just days after an anti-terrorism court sentenced Ahmad Khan Bachhar, Ahmad Chattha, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, and others to 10 years in prison after convicting them in the May 9 riots case.
