Punjab acquires airlift drone for flood rescue operations

LAHORE: The Punjab government has acquired a modern airlift drone to assist in rescue operations for flood-affected citizens.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the advanced drone is capable of lifting and transporting a person weighing up to 200 kilograms to a safe location.

The Home Secretary has directed that the drone be dispatched to Multan for rescue operations in flood-hit areas of South Punjab.

Before deployment, the Civil Defence department in Lahore successfully conducted test flights of the drone to ensure operational readiness, the spokesperson added.

Home Secretary Punjab said that it has decided to purchase 10 more airlift drones for civil defense, which is the first emergency airlift drone service in Pakistan.

According to the Home Secretary Punjab, humans can be lifted from the drone inaccessible and dangerous places.

He said that the Civil Defence Resilience Corps is undergoing a volunteer registration of citizens, more than 4,000 volunteers have been registered this week to help flood victims. The online portal VCD.Home.gop.pk can be registered as Civil Defence Volunteer Volunteer.
