KARACHI: The legendary Qawwal Maqbool Ahmed Sabri, renowned for his unique contribution to Sufi music, is being remembered today on his 14th death anniversary. His soulful voice continues to resonate with fans across the globe.

Born in 1945 in Kalyana, India, Maqbool Ahmed Sabri received his early musical training from his father, Inayat Hussain Sabri. Starting his journey at a young age, he gained international acclaim for his distinctive style and powerful vocals.

His work not only earned him fame in Pakistan but also recognition in India, where his Qawwalis were featured in major Bollywood productions, captivating millions.

Maqbool Ahmed Sabri performed alongside his elder brother, Ghulam Farid Sabri, forming the iconic duo known as the Sabri Brothers.

Together, they carved a special place in the world of Qawwali, earning the prestigious Pride of Performance award for their contributions.

Their timeless Qawwalis such as “Bhar Do Jholi Meri” and “Tajdar-e-Haram” remain deeply loved by audiences even today. Maqbool Ahmed Sabri passed away on September 21, 2011, due to a heart ailment, but his legacy in the realm of Sufi music remains immortal.
