Repair work on Hub canal completed; Water supply restoration underway

Karachi: The Water Corporation has announced the successful completion of emergency repair work on the Hub Canal, which was severely damaged by recent heavy rains and floodwaters originating from the northern bypass and surrounding mountainous regions.
According to a spokesperson for the Corporation, the repair operation was completed within an expedited timeframe of 72 hours, with work continuing round-the-clock without interruption. The canal has now been fully restored and reactivated.
Following the structural repairs, the charging process of the rising main and connected pipelines is currently in progress. Once the system is fully pressurized and stabilized, the water supply to the Central, West, and Keamari districts will be gradually resumed.
The spokesperson emphasized that while the canal infrastructure is now operational, water supply to the city remains temporarily suspended until the technical recharging process is safely completed.
Authorities have assured that all efforts are being made to expedite the full restoration of water distribution and minimize inconvenience to residents.
