SUKKUR: In a shocking act of animal cruelty, three men allegedly severed a camel’s leg and dragged the injured animal with a tractor for more than a kilometer in the Saleh Pat area of Janoji, Sukkur.

According to the camel’s owner, Ghulam Mustafa Shambani, the thirsty animal had wandered to a pond belonging to a man named Malik Umar to drink water.

Enraged, Malik Umar’s employees identified as Qurban Brohi, Rasool Bakhsh Sheikh, and Mustafa allegedly attacked the camel with an axe, cutting off its leg.

The owner further stated that the men then tied the wounded camel to a tractor and dragged it for about 1.5 kilometers before abandoning it. “When we reached the spot after hearing its cries, the camel was lying in a pool of blood,” Shambani recounted.

The incident has sparked outrage in the area, with calls for strict action against those involved in the brutal assault.

In a direct condemnation, the Chief Minister stated, “Such treatment of a speechless animal will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

CM Shah has issued directives to the Chairman District Council Sukkur, Syed Kumail Shah, to ensure the camel receives comprehensive medical treatment.

Syed Kumail Shah confirmed he has been in direct contact with the camel’s owner and that treatment is underway.

Following the directives, the Mukhtiarkar and a veterinary doctor arrived at the site to provide immediate care. Shah later confirmed that after initial treatment, the severely injured camel has been transported to Karachi for advanced and specialized care.

He also affirmed that legal action is actively being pursued against the culprits responsible for the heinous act.
