LAHORE: Polling is underway for the vacant Senate seat from Punjab following the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreak e Insaf’s Ejaz Chaudhry.

According to a spokesperson for the Provincial Election Commissioner, Returning Officer Sharifullah initiated the polling process at the Punjab Assembly Hall, where voting continues without interruption.

The spokesperson added that 363 members of the Punjab Assembly are eligible to cast their votes, with polling scheduled to continue until 4 p.m.

According to the Provincial Election Commissioner, Rana Sanaullah and Salma Ijaz are candidates for the Senate seat.

On the occasion, PML-N candidate Rana Sanaullah said that PTI has no option left except to escape. He claimed that 10 to 12 PTI members were willing to vote for him, but he asked them to cast their ballots for their own candidate instead.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court has made the by-election on the vacant Senate seat from Punjab subject to the final decision on Ejaz Chaudhry’s petition.
