New York: The United States has once again vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, delivered a strong speech during the session, sharply criticizing Israel and holding it responsible for what he described as the genocide of the Palestinian people.

“Israel is carrying out a massacre of Palestinians in Gaza, targeting hospitals and critical infrastructure,” he said. “Children in Gaza are dying of hunger, and innocent civilians are being killed every day.”

This marks the sixth time the U.S. has blocked such a resolution. Out of the 15 members of the Security Council, 14 voted in favor of the resolution, but it failed to pass due to the U.S. veto.

He further stated, “This is a blatant violation of human rights. The international community must not remain a silent spectator.”

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. He urged the international community to take urgent and effective action to stop Israeli aggression.

The war in Gaza had, he noted, killed more than 18,000 children and 12,000 women, killed more than 1,400 doctors and nurses, and more than 250 journalists.
