In an interview with Chinese Media President Asif Ali Zardari expressed immense gratitude for the warmth and love he received from the Chinese people. He stated that the affection shown to him during his numerous visits—16 to 17 times—always brings him back to China and strengthens the bond between the two nations.
President Zardari highlighted the remarkable transformation China has undergone over the past 14 years, noting the country’s robust economy and the increasing prosperity and satisfaction among its people. He emphasized that his visits are always aimed at fostering goodwill and cooperation.
Rejecting the notion of war, President Zardari urged a focus on economic development and peaceful coexistence. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing and expanding cooperation with China, which has now reached the space sector as well.
In agriculture, the President emphasized the need for self-sufficiency to secure Pakistan’s future and expressed eagerness to benefit from China’s expertise in water-saving irrigation techniques and modern farming methods. He also called for enhanced cooperation in water management and disaster prevention, citing these as urgent priorities.
Describing China and Pakistan as “iron brothers,” Zardari underscored the strategic importance of their geographical locations and mutual interests. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s positions on all international platforms and praised China’s global achievements in technology and innovation.
The President highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative, noting that Pakistan’s ports are among the closest to China and will play a critical role in regional development. He predicted that CPEC’s success would drive economic growth across the region, create employment opportunities for youth, and strengthen bilateral ties.
Lastly, Zardari mentioned Pakistan’s efforts to benefit from Chinese expertise in the energy sector, especially in solar and wind power, as well as in railway technology, to fuel sustainable development in Pakistan.
