Ronaldo’s financial leap comes on the back of a lucrative new contract signed with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, reportedly worth over $400 million. This extension, signed in mid-2025, extends his stay at the club beyond his 42nd birthday and cements his status as not only one of the greatest footballers of all time but also one of the most commercially successful athletes in history.
Cristiano Ronaldo began his professional journey in 2002 with Sporting Lisbon. Over a stellar 23-year career, he has represented some of the world’s top clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now Al-Nassr.
As of October 2025, Ronaldo has played more than 1,200 professional matches across club and international football, and has scored over 850 career goals a feat unmatched in the modern game.
According to Bloomberg, Ronaldo has earned over $550 million in salaries between 2002 and 2023. His long-standing partnership with Nike brings in approximately $18 million per year, while his collaborations with various luxury, fitness, and lifestyle brands have contributed another $175 million+ in endorsement earnings.
Ronaldo’s high-profile move from Manchester United to Al-Nassr in 2023 made headlines worldwide, with reports valuing his annual contract at £177 million making him the highest-paid footballer ever at the time. His initial contract, which was due to end in June 2025, has now been extended for two more years, reportedly with an enhanced package totaling over $400 million.
With this milestone, Ronaldo joins a rare group of billionaire athletes that includes Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, and Magic Johnson individuals who have built empires beyond their sports careers.
As he continues to perform at the highest level well into his 40s, Ronaldo remains not only a symbol of sporting excellence but also a master class in branding, longevity, and financial success.
