QUETTA: Senior gynecologist Professor Dr Ayesha Siddiqa, hailing from Quetta, has been elected as a Trustee of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) — becoming the first Pakistani woman to hold this distinguished global position.

Dr. Ayesha was also recently conferred the FIGO Women’s Award 2025 in recognition of her remarkable contributions and dedicated service to the field of medicine.

Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Ayesha said that joining FIGO’s General Assembly is a matter of great pride, emphasizing that the recognition is not just her personal success but also a historic achievement for Balochistan and Pakistan’s medical fraternity.

FIGO is the world’s leading global organization representing obstetrics and gynecology associations, comprising member societies from 142 countries.Only 10 distinguished professionals worldwide are selected to serve in its General Assembly.

Dr Ayesha Siddiqa has previously served as a Professor at Bolan Medical University and as Head of the Department of Gynecology at its affiliated hospital.
