Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has unveiled its latest assessment, confirming that clear and dry conditions are expected to settle over the majority of the country today.

Despite the pleasant weather in many areas, a serious environmental problem persists, a heavy shroud of smog is forecasted to drastically lower visibility and severely compromise air quality throughout eastern Punjab.

A moisture-free day is expected for the greater part of Pakistan.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan these regions will experience partially overcast skies, with a minimal chance of light precipitation.

Islamabad, along with the majority of districts in Sindh and Balochistan, will remain clear and dry. However, the northern areas of Balochistan will face cold mornings and evenings.

Residents in mountainous zones should expect chilly temperatures, especially during the overnight and early daylight hours.

The sustained lack of rainfall, combined with airborne pollutants, has produced ideal conditions for smog. This poses both a serious health hazard and a substantial risk to drivers traveling in eastern Punjab.

The PMD specifically warns that dense smog will impact the following key urban centers. Residents are strongly advised to exercise caution and take necessary protective measures:

Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara
