Colombo: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued strict guidelines to media representatives ahead of the Women’s World Cup clash between Pakistan and India, banning questions related to politics and customary handshake exchanges to maintain focus on cricket.

This move comes in response to controversies during the recent Pakistan-India Asia Cup matches, prompting the ICC to ensure a smoother and more professional environment for the upcoming game.

At the pre-match press conference, Pakistan Women’s team captain Fatima Sana emphasized the team’s commitment to the sport. “We have prepared thoroughly for the match against India,” she said. “Our entire focus is on cricket.”

Despite their recent defeat against Bangladesh, Sana reassured fans about the team’s determination. “Pakistan is still in the tournament, and we are ready to bounce back,” she added confidently.

Regarding the customary exchanges between teams, Sana acknowledged their significance but made clear that the current priority is the game itself. “In the past, teams interacted, which was positive. But right now, our priority is cricket,” she said.

Sana also acknowledged the external pressures but reiterated that the team’s concentration remains unwavering. “We are aware of the environment, but our focus is solely on playing well,” she affirmed.

As one of the youngest captains, she expressed gratitude for the support from senior teammates. “It’s an honor to lead at this stage, and the senior players fully support me. We stand together as a team,” she concluded.
