Federal cabinet approved ban on TLP. According to sources, Punjab Government had recommended ban on violent acts and anti-state activities.

 

Participants of cabinet meeting were briefed by Interior Ministry  on Punjab Government’s summary.

According to sources, Federal Cabinet members voted to approve Punjab Government’s recommendations regarding the TLP.

TLP is accused of spreading chaos and challenging State writ. Also allegations of violent protests, arson, and damage to Government and private property.

After approval of  Federal Cabinet, procedure for banning TLP will be initiated. Federal Government will issue a declaration against party under Article 17 of the Constitution.

A reference will be sent to SC  by the Federal Government within 15 days after  declaration. Ban on TLP will be effective after approval of the SC.
