The first Supermoon of 2025 is set to captivate stargazers worldwide on October 7, promising a spectacular celestial display. During this event, the full moon will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual as it reaches its closest point to Earth in its orbit.

Known as a Supermoon, this rare occurrence happens when the moon’s elliptical orbit brings it unusually near our planet. This year’s October Supermoon will be approximately 224,599 miles from Earth, marking the closest lunar approach since November 2024.

The breathtaking sight will be visible not only in Pakistan but around the globe, offering a remarkable opportunity for moon enthusiasts to witness the moon’s enhanced size and luminosity.

Astronomers also note that this Supermoon is the first of three consecutive Supermoons to occur later this year, with others scheduled for November 5 and December 5. November’s Supermoon is expected to be the brightest of 2025, with the moon coming as close as 221,817 miles from Earth. Though a Supermoon will also appear in January 2026, it lies outside the current calendar year.

Typically, there are three to four Supermoons annually, but October’s event is particularly notable for its proximity and brightness, making it a must-watch event for sky watchers.
