Karachi faces increasing heat intensity with light showers expected by evening

Karachi: The city is forecasted to experience warm, dry, and muggy conditions today as sea breezes remain stalled due to a prevailing low-pressure system, weather experts reported.

Currently, the temperature in Karachi stands at 28°C, but elevated moisture levels in the air are expected to make it feel considerably warmer.

“A combination of high atmospheric moisture and the absence of sea breeze is contributing to considerable discomfort. The heat index could surpass 40°C, even if actual temperatures remain somewhat lower,” explained a senior meteorologist.

Although the day is expected to remain largely dry, light showers are anticipated in some areas by evening, offering potential relief from the oppressive conditions.

Winds are blowing at around 10 km/h, while humidity has reached 83%, creating a sticky and heavy atmosphere. Meteorologists have also cautioned that temperatures may climb further to between 34°C and 36°C as the day progresses
