Lahore tops global pollution charts as AQI hits hazardous 292

Lahore: The air quality in Lahore has plummeted to hazardous levels, making it the most polluted city in the world, according to the Smog Monitoring Center.

Officials attribute the worsening air to easterly winds carrying pollutants into the city, while cooler morning temperatures are causing smog particles to linger in the air for longer durations.

In response to the environmental emergency, the government has announced the deployment of anti-smog guns in heavily affected areas to curb airborne pollutants. Authorities are also advising citizens to limit outdoor activities and wear protective masks when necessary.

The Meteorological Department has confirmed there is no forecast for rain in the coming days, a factor that could have helped disperse the smog.

With no immediate relief in sight, Lahore’s residents continue to battle a growing environmental crisis that poses serious risks to public health.

The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has surged to 292, prompting health warnings and urgent action from authorities.
