Pakistani actress and TV host Mishi Khan has expressed her strong disapproval of fellow actress Saba Qamar’s comments regarding Karachi.

In a video posted on Instagram, Mishi Khan voiced her frustration after Saba Qamar used the term “Astaghfirullah” when mentioning Karachi.

Mishi, clearly upset, said, “I was really hurt when I heard Saba Qamar say ‘Astaghfirullah’ just because of Karachi’s name. It didn’t sit well with me. Karachi is my home town. It’s the city where artists from Lahore, and other places, have found fame and recognition. It’s where their talents have been acknowledged worldwide, and where they’ve earned a living.”

She continued, “Saba, you’ve worked mainly with Karachi-based channels, and you’ve also worked in India. Have you ever heard anyone criticize Mumbai? Mumbai also has its fair share of issues, like small houses with no ventilation, but no artist has ever spoken badly about Mumbai. People come from all over to make their name there, and they respect the city.”

Mishi Khan pointed out that Saba should have been more mindful with her words, adding, “You are in a good position, doing amazing work. For you to speak ill of Karachi, the city that helped build your career, isn’t right. You come here, make your living, and then say something like this? It’s not appropriate.”

She further emphasized, “If you have any problems with Karachi, you could have expressed them in a more respectful way. Your words were hurtful to all of us who are from this city. A person should always show respect to the place that gave them so much respect, money, and fame.”

Mishi concluded by saying, “You’re doing fantastic work, but when speaking about any city, it’s crucial to choose your words carefully. Every city in Pakistan is important. They are the backbone of this country.”

This public disagreement between the two actresses has sparked a lot of conversation online, with many agreeing with Mishi’s call for more respect toward the cities that help shape their careers.
