QUETTA: The mobile phone and internet services have been suspended across Quetta for 24 hours following a directive from the provincial Home Department.

According to details, the Balochistan Home Department had formally requested the federal government to suspend the services due to security concerns.

Sources within the department said that the decision to suspend 3G and 4G internet services was made on the recommendation of the provincial government to maintain law and order in the provincial capital.

A notification issued by the Home Department stated that, in view of the security situation, mobile internet and data services will remain unavailable throughout Quetta district for the duration of the suspension.

The statement added that the measure aims to preserve peace and prevent any potential threats. The suspension came into effect from midnight on Friday, October 31, and will remain in place for 24 hours.
