Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned on Israeli forces attack on the Gaza Sumud Flotilla, the operation targeted humanitarian workers transporting assistance to Palestinians.

In a post on X,  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that, the assault involved around 40 aircraft and struck the Sumud Gaza flotilla, which — he said — included more than 450 humanitarian workers from 44 countries. “Pakistan condemns the cowardly attack by Israeli forces,” Shahbaz Sharif wrote. He said Pakistan is praying for the safety of those detained by Israeli forces and demanded their immediate release.

“The only crime of these people was that they were carrying aid for the helpless Palestinian people,” the prime minister added. He called for an end to the “brutality” and urged promotion of peace, stressing that humanitarian assistance must reach those in need under all circumstances.

The prime minister’s remarks follow an internationally-organized relief mission, described in his statement as the Sumud Gaza flotilla, which was carrying aid to civilians in Gaza. Shahbaz Sharif appealed for the safe return of the detained humanitarian workers and reiterated Pakistan’s call for protection of humanitarian operations.
